PHASE 1. Design of the Catalan food startup program

Grants for Competitiveness Building Initiatives for 2020 Cluster Projects - Development and Innovation Projects (LIN02).

The main goal of the FoodStart.CAT project. Design of the Catalan food startup program '', is to define the creation of a program that serves to give visibility to startups in the food sector and network with different companies in the sector or complementary, taking advantage of the framework of relations and existing communication around Catalan food clusters.

PHASE 2. Execution of the action plan

Grants for Competitiveness Building Initiatives for 2020 Cluster Projects - Development and Innovation Projects (LIN02).

The first phase of the project has allowed us to detect a series of cross-cutting challenges facing the five clusters involved, and serve as a basis for adjusting the work plan initially planned with what is proposed in the project. Among the main challenges are:

  • Fostering a culture of open innovation and corporate venturing in order to generate disruptive innovation that improves the competitiveness of partners.
  • Provide Open Innovation tools that enable companies to quickly validate innovation and collaborate with their suppliers and stakeholders in the development of new solutions and business models.
  • Demonstrate the need to acquire new technological capabilities and implement new business models and operations that can impact the entire value chain.
  • Development of joint open innovation projects to solve major challenges: profitability, efficiency, cash flow, and demand generation.
  • Attracting leading global startups that provide solutions to business challenges.

This project (including the previous and next phase) aims to define the bases of a Catalan food startup program, and will establish the first actions to be carried out during the year 2022.
