On November 6, the WICA team, including Víctor Tirado, INNOVI's innovation manager, initiated the mission in Chile with a visit to Wines of Chile, delving into the history and production of Chilean wine. There, they became acquainted with the National Sustainability Code, which has accredited over 70% of exporting wineries in economic, environmental, and social aspects. The day concluded with a visit to Aresti Winery.
The second day of the mission focused on technical challenges and opportunities at the University of Talca, followed by an approach to sustainable and quality production at Bouchon Family Wines and Terra Noble Wines.
The mission in Chile concluded on Friday, November 10, with a visit to Miguel Torres Chile, where the team learned about their focus on local varieties and high-value-added wines, excelling in both the local and export markets.
The next stage of this mission took INNOVI to Argentine lands. On November 13, they presented the INNOVI cluster and the international association WICA at an event in Mendoza, co-organized by Wines of Argentina. This seminar, part of the Sustenta Vitis AL-INVEST Verde project, brought together European companies to showcase their innovative projects in the wine industry.
Magdalena Pesce, CEO of WOFA, provided a comprehensive view of the Argentine wine industry, emphasizing the spirit of collaboration. Later, the delegation visited Dervinsa-Innovación Sustentable, a biorefinery managing organic matter from 80% of Argentine wineries.
On November 15, the mission delved into the challenges of climate change, with a focus on research and development in areas such as hail, solar damage, water management, and soil composition.
This mission has been crucial for exploring innovative and cutting-edge solutions, as well as strengthening collaborative efforts between public and private entities in the Argentine wine industry.
