This week, on November 12, INNOVI was present at the celebration day of the 10 years of the Catalan Operational Groups, organized by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Food (DARPA) of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The event took place at the Joan Miró Foundation, an emblematic space that hosted a forward-looking view of the country's agri-food innovation model.
The Operational Groups have established themselves as a key tool to promote collaborative innovation in the agri-food and forestry sector in Catalonia. Through partnerships between producers, companies, research centers and administrations, it has been possible to transform real needs into practical and transferable solutions. With more than 300 projects promoted in Catalonia and more than 4,000 on a European scale, this model has become a driver of sustainability, efficiency and competitiveness.
The day, led by the scientific communicator Salva Ferré, had the intervention of prominent institutional personalities:
Throughout the day, 11 Operational Groups developed during this decade were presented, distributed in three round tables. Several INNOVI partners participated in these sessions, such as IRTA, Eurecat and L'Olivera, who have actively contributed to transformative projects for the sector.
Xavier París, head of INNOVI’s technical office, also took part, presenting the project we coordinated in the 2021 call:
Circular bioeconomy of proximity: Organic fertilization in organic and conventional vineyards, with a consortium formed by: Juvé & Camps, Selecció Deseuras, Granges Terragrisa, ADV Sant Martí Penedès Superior, BETARA, BETA Technology Center and INCAVI.
In addition, during the round table, other projects led by INNOVI were also discussed, highlighting the MERCAVI project, which aims to generate as much knowledge as possible to promote the standardization of the methodologies of the Climate Credit System in Catalonia in the wine sector
These 2 projects coordinated by INNOVI exemplify how Operational Groups can generate real innovation, transferable and aligned with the challenges of sustainability and efficiency in the wine sector.
The event concluded with a few words from the Hble. Òscar Ordeig, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, highlighting the role of the Operational Groups as an essential tool to promote collaborative innovation and strengthen the Catalan agri-food industry.
