Aid for projects promoting the circular economy of the Catalan Waste Agency 2023
The aim of this project is to carry out a sectoral study of the agri-food packaging of gourmet products that allows us to better understand the sectoral trends and the barriers that make it difficult to implement eco-designed packaging for this type of product.
The aesthetic factor of gourmet products has made it difficult to replace their current packaging systems with more sustainable and circular ones, as these are perceived as less attractive for companies and their consumers. For this reason, achieving the replacement of current packaging with other eco-designed ones (e.g. that use less material, more noble materials, prioritize monomateriality, are more recyclable, etc.) is a major challenge for which a lot of pedagogy will have to be done and awareness
The project is mainly materialized in two participatory and co-design workshops, where the current trends and barriers in the sector will be made known, the key concepts of eco-design will be exposed, and the main barriers and opportunities for implementing systems of eco-designed packaging taking into account a vision of the entire value chain (origin, use and final management) of the sector.
