Integration of sensorics and remote sensing to make efficient management of vineyard irrigation by continuous monitoring of soil, plant and microclimatic conditions

The main objective of the project is to optimise water management in the cultivation of vineyards by digitising and optimizing all production processes, with criteria of efficiency and saving of their use defined a protocol/decision strategy that ensures annual production and improves the quality and oenological potential of the vintage.

The achievement of this main objective, which is set out in all the technological processes that are worked in the wineries that present the project, is specified by more specific objectives:

• Sectorization of agricultural estates to optimize water management according to the microclimatic, edophological and agronomical characteristics of the different plots.
• Optimization of water management in vineyard cultivation, with the application of technology that clearly supports the decision on the following points:
  • Land management for maximum use of soil water reserves
  • Moment, dose and global irrigation strategy
• Correlate plant development, soil moisture sensor data, plant water stress data, and remote sensing images under the conditions of the estates in which they are installed, as a process for determining useful algorithms in process automation.
• Introduction and validation of "Saturas" technology, which allows monitoring of the plant's water status.
