The result of this project is the "Digitalization Guide for Micro and Small Wineries" developed with the aim of advising small wineries in the Alt Penedès to move forward on the path of digitization of data and processes that take place in the vineyard, in the cellars and in communication to customers and consumers.
Digitalization as a community goal
Digitalization is one of the key processes in the productive improvement of modern companies, whatever their size. This is a general consensus and it is proof that the European Union has made this field one of the main destinations of the funds made available to improve the competitiveness of companies.
While digitalization has been a clear objective in the business world for some time now, small companies, especially in our sector, have had more difficulty enjoying its benefits.
The democratization of information technology
The simplification of computer applications, the breakthrough in Internet connectivity and the massive processing of data through everyday devices such as cell phones, tablets or computers have democratized digitization, making it available not only to companies of a certain size, but also to small and micro-wineries.
Lessons learned from the project
The lessons learned in the guide are based on the results of eight consultancies between wineries and consultants, in which the following have been highlighted:
- Data and process management programs
- Sensors integrated into the control and management of vineyards and wineries.
- The digitalization of communication as a fundamental tool for reaching customers and consumers.
