Grants for projects to promote the circular economy 2020
The VISENSEFILM project aims to implement, in an integrated and complete way, the ecodesign methodology in the wine sector. To achieve this, we will work on a specific case of ecodesign and reduction of the shrink plastic film used in the wine chain during the packaging phase of the boxes with wine bottles for distribution to customers.
The project is led by the cooperative Unió Origen, which has the participation of another Vilarnau winery, and the wine cluster, INNOVI, as partners in the project, and also with the support of the Torres winery and the company Silvalac manufacturer of movies.
An ecodesign process will assess the environmental impact of virgin low density polyethylene film currently used for participating wineries, and will conduct a benchmarking study on existing alternatives in the current market and available suppliers. Alternatives will be prioritized through a feasibility analysis involving different technical, environmental and economic criteria, as well as others at the commercial level for the acceptance of packers and end customers. Pilot tests will be conducted with the best valued alternatives. With the alternative finally chosen and tested, a comparative environmental analysis will be carried out between it and the film that is currently being used in order to assess the overall environmental benefit of the pilot.
