The VIDVOLT 4.0 project ends this August having developed a technological solution to improve the performance of vine cultivation. It is a Digital-Twin computational framework for tracking, prescribing and optimising both the flow of solar energy and the crops themselves. The solution will be implemented on solar-wine farms with a complex, multi-purpose sensor analysis, called Agro-photo-voltaic (APV) systems.
The project, funded from MINCOTUR's 2021 call for Innovative Business Clusters (AEI), aimed to seek synergies that benefit vine cultivation and the optimisation of the resources it needs to survive. Specifically, the proposal makes it easier to implement agrovoltaics by optimising crop yields and implementing photovoltaic panels.
The effects of climate change have caused many of these crops to suffer in order to maintain their latitudes and if they want to survive they will have to take measures. Consequently, the integral platform based on ML/DL/Edge Computing models and validated using Digital Twin technology has allowed the farmer to apply specific and personalised treatments in each cultivation area according to their needs, complementing it with the parameterisation and optimal use of solar panels in the installation. The solution has also made it possible to apply energy efficiency in crop growth, and has allowed adaptation to the variable environment of the moment and future, according to simulations and desirable scenarios.
VIDVOLT. 4.0, which ends in August 2022, has promoted intersectoral collaboration between the wine and energy sectors with the consortium formed by the Innove and CEEC clusters and the companies Km0 Energy, Ibermatica and Tamic.
The VIDVOLT 4.0 project has been co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (MINCOTUR) through the second call for AEIs in 2021 within the framework of the Next Generation grants and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
