Regenerative viticulture, innovation and new consumption habits at the center of the ENEO Meeting Penedès 2026

Info Innovi,

Last Thursday, May 28, we co-organised, together with ENEO d'Impresas and the VINSEUM, the ENEO Meeting Penedès 2026, a day that brought together professionals, companies and experts from the wine sector to share knowledge, experiences and reflections on the main challenges and opportunities facing wine today.

From INNOVI we particularly appreciate that the conference had a wide participation of members of the cluster, both as attendees of the conference and in the presentations and round tables. This presence highlights the strength of the innovative ecosystem of the wine sector and the active role of associated companies and entities in the generation and transfer of knowledge.

The meeting was welcomed by Joan Gené, director of INCAVI, and opened by Sergi de Lamo, general director of PTVino and partner of INNOVI, who highlighted innovation, knowledge transfer and collaboration between agents as key tools to move towards a more competitive, sustainable and prepared sector for new scenarios.

In the blog dedicated to viticulture, it was highlighted how regenerative viticulture is gaining more and more strength in the countryside. Beyond its direct impact on the improvement of the soil, biodiversity and the resilience of the vineyard, its importance as an element of value and differentiation when communicating and marketing wine was also highlighted.

In this context, Mireia Torres, director of Innovation and Sustainability of Família Torres and president of INNOVI, among other positions, shared her vision on regenerative viticulture as a strategic tool for the future of the sector. He also participated in the round table "Cultivating value from the roots: ecological practices that regenerate the soil and strengthen the brand", moderated by Eloi Montcada, Cluster Manager of INNOVI, together with Roger Rovira, of Recaredo; Sergi Colet, of Colet Winery; and Larry José Lara Matute, from Econatur. The debate made it possible to delve deeper into how ecological and regenerative practices can generate value both in the vineyard and in brand positioning.

In the oenology blog, Marta Casas, oenologist from Parès Baltà and partner of INNOVI, intervened telematically with the presentation "From the vineyard to the winery: a contemporary view of enology", providing a current vision on the new approaches to winemaking and the connection between work in the vineyard and the winery. Digitization, artificial intelligence and process control were the focus of the enology blog's round table, "La bodega inteligente: control del proceso para ganar calidad, eficiencia y profitability", moderated by Nina Jareño, Content Director of ENEO. Agustí Torelló, AT Roca oenologist; Josep Gual, CEO of Magusa; and Mery Nieto, technical director of Mastinell. In this space, it was evident how the application of new digital tools and AI can become a very powerful lever for wineries, allowing more data to be available, improve decision-making, optimize processes and achieve more precise control to gain quality, efficiency and profitability.

The day also opened the debate on changes in the market and in consumption habits. Xavier París, head of INNOVI's technical office, moderated the table of the third block, on distribution, "La verdad del mercado: qué exigen hoy la distribución, el retail y el consumidor", with the participation of Jordi Grau, assistant to the management of Vins i Licors Grau; Oriol Ripoll, co-CEO of Decántalo and Bodeboca; Clara Antúnez, sommelier; and Salvador Oliveras, commercial director of Vila Viniteca. In this space, one of the major current concerns of the sector was put on the table: the downward trend in wine consumption. Faced with this scenario, the challenge is to better understand the current consumer, adapt the channels and messages, and manage to integrate wine back into everyday life, from a closer, accessible and connected perspective with the new forms of consumption.

A very enriching day that demonstrated, once again, the importance of creating meeting spaces between companies, institutions and professionals to share visions, detect common challenges and promote innovative solutions. It also demonstrated the commitment of INNOVI partners to innovation, sustainability, digitization and knowledge transfer as engines to continue moving towards a more competitive and future-ready wine sector.
